Perception theory. Self-perception theory definition. Women love with their ears, and men with their eyes?

The theory of perception in psychology is based on the idea that a person receives information better through some particular channel: visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, or gustatory. Based on this, as a rule, there are 3 types of people: visuals, audials and kinesthetics. It is believed that a person from his childhood refers to a particular type, and this model is often based on the process of learning or communication.

Let us examine each type in more details:

• Visuals - visual perception of information through, for example, shape, color, size, etc .;

• Audials - listening comprehension through sounds, melodiousness, loudness, timbre, etc .;

• Kinesthetics - sensory perception through form, texture, temperature, taste, smell, etc .;

Separately, there is a fourth type, which perceives and analyzes information in a completely different way, through the logical construction of an internal dialogue. This is so-called sense system of perception, and such people are called digitals.

However, this categorization is not entirely correct. Undoubtedly, one of the systems of perception dominates the others, but it is not always alone - there may be more of them. For example, the prevalence of both vision and hearing often occurs, i.e. a person is both a visual and an audial at the same time. What is more, the dominant system may change throughout life.

So where did this myth come from? Like many others, it has developed as a result of a certain social behavior. Men give women compliments about their appearance, and women like to receive them - and so the expression appeared. But this does not mean that men do not like to hear, and women do not like to admire something beautiful.
